Driscoll's Confessions

I just started reading Mark Driscoll's Confessions of a Reformission Rev. Though I've only been through the prelude and the introduction "Chapter Zero" I have found it tremendously insightful and thought provoking. I am greatly looking forward to reading the rest of the book.

Here are a few highlights from Chapter Zero:

Gospel + Culture - Church = Parachurch

Culture + Church - Gospel = Liberalism

Church + Gospel - Culture = Fundamentalism

Gospel + Culture + Church = Reformission

"Does your or ministry community exist for the mission of reaching lost people or primarily for itself?"

There seems to be a recurring theme in my reading as of late: Hybrid.

I've read his other book, "The Radical Reformission". I've flipped through this one, but haven't read it yet.

I'll be looking forward to a full review. :-)

This is a really interesting way of putting a phenomenon that I've noticed, but didn't know how to talk about. I think that Christians have always struggled with how to be in the world, but not of it. How do we engage culture, but not be of it? Interesting thoughts!
