Hungry?

The great injustice of hunger in the midst an abundance of food in our world is shocking. This moving video depicts the striking degree of hunger which is prevalent in so many places in our world, even while food is often just right around the corner:

Holy wow, Batman! That took a twist I didn't expect. I thought it would be another video of showing one part of the world with plenty and throwing it away....and then the other part of the world without, and eating bugs and rice. I didn't expect to see a man feeding his family on what's thrown away, or children clamboring for refuse. Ugh (the sound made when punched in the gut.)

I agree. It is a very powerful video. Ever since I first saw it I keep thinking about what I can do to help.

Our house-church group has been participating a couple ways to help:

1)We "adopted" 5 families in the Jackson area. We purchase and deliver "Angel Food" orders to their homes on a monthly basis.

2)For Thanksgiving and Christmas, we adopt 10 additional families from the Salvation Army -- 5 of them are senior citizens and the other 5 are every-day average families. We provide their dinners and gifts for the holidays.

3)We participate in food drives and support other organizations/churches that donate to a fantastic local food bank that exists right here in little ol' Brooklyn. Free to anyone who needs it.

That said, there are tons of ways to get involved. And in this economy, more and more people need our help every day!

Ben,

A very powerful and convicting film. Bless you for your compassion, brother. And thanks for posting this. May we not forget.
